School Photos

The 'Remarkable Experience' was a bit of an exciting distraction for us today.  We saw the Year 4 - 8 students pose in and around it for their class photos out our windows.  I wonder if it will be back for our class photo on Monday?

Beautiful Oops!

Last week while Mrs Moss was visiting schools in Auckland as part of the Teachers Learning, she saw a group of Year 1 and 2 students working on the concept that it's 'O.K. to make mistakes' using this book and scrunched up bits of paper.  As we are working on our attitudes to learning and thinking about having growth mindsets this was a great book to help us think of ways to turn mistakes into something 'beautiful' - a 'Beautiful Oops!'

Our 'Oops' can take lots of forms...

Jack Flash and the Jumping Beanstalk

The Playhouse Theatre visited us on Wednesday morning.  They put on a show about giant sized problems with rubbish and our need to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.  Pohatu 1 students got fully involved - even tilting their heads when the action on stage went sideways!

Pohatu 1 Students have enjoyed watching and joining in on this song.  We talked about our learning being like taking one step at a time!

Growth Mindsets

Together we sorted the statements out - which ones were 'fixed' and which ones would help us 'grow' as a learner?  Students all had a piece of the 'brain' to colour their favourite colour then we stuck the 'growth' pieces back together like a jigsaw puzzle.

What things do you say to yourself when you get 'stuck' in your learning?
