Rainbow Words
We are practising words we will see in our reading books. By writing each word in different colours, saying the name of the letter we are writing and when we have done the word and saying the whole word we are putting the words in our memories.

Whiteboards and Whisper Phones
This week we used the 'whisper phones' and our whiteboards lots for reading.
We used our whiteboards to practise writing some of the high frequency words we would see in our reading books. Writing each letter, saying it's name and then saying the whole word when we have written it is a way we can put the words into our minds, helping us to recognise them when we see them in books we are reading.
The whisper phones help us to read the story to ourselves without distracting the other students reading near us. The whisper phones also make us take away the 'pointing' finger as we need a hand to hold it and a hand to turn the pages of the book. As we move onto Yellow Level books we only use our fingers to point to the words when we get a bit stuck.

Inspired by Andy Warhol
We joined Pohatu 5 tamariki and explored the 'pop art' by andy Warhol. Students shared what the noticed about his art...their ideas included colours, neat colouring (inside the lines), bananas and Mickey Mouse! Mrs Moss and Miss Langford had some black and white photos of each student ready for them to do some Andy Warhol inspired colouring!
